Accreditation Specialist

General Responsibilities

Interesting, fast-paced work for a national accrediting agency (ACCET) in a small, supportive hybrid working environment, with full benefits. Primary responsibilities involve (1) processing program applications submitted by member institutions, (2) periodic review of ACCET Standards and policies, (3) conducting workshops and participating in events and conferences, and (4) other tasks.

Primary Responsibilities

Program Application Processing:
• Provide assistance to member institutions on matters related to ACCET standards and policies, and the process for establishing new programs and changes to existing programs.
• Process in-coming program applications and move applications through all steps of the approval process.
• Provide timely and accurate communication to member institutions regarding approval decisions and scheduling.
• Manage Curriculum Specialists to review new program curriculum including assigning applications, monitoring progress, requesting honorarium payments, and recruiting program reviewers.
• Collaborate with Administrative Staff on invoicing, ACCET record retention, and technical support to member institutions.
• Conduct visits for the review of new out-of-scope programs as needed.
• Draft letters of approval and maintain records of completed applications.
• Maintain and update as needed, processing policies of program applications.

Review of Standards for Accreditation and Policies
• In collaboration with the Associate Executive Director, participate in the periodic review of ACCET Standards and Policies for continued relevance and quality.
• Draft proposed changes to Standards and policies for review by the Accrediting Commission.
• Analyze results of member and stakeholder feedback on proposed changes.
• Assist with the collection of material for ACCET’s petition for re-recognition with the US Department of Education and any requests for information from other regulatory bodies.
• Edit Team Reports and Commission Action Letters.

Workshops, Trainings, and Conferences:
• Present at workshops, trainings, and other events for membership institutions and staff.
• Review ACCET standards, policies, and expectations with institutions through interactive events.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and work experience in postsecondary education and extensive experience in ACCET Standards of Accreditation and policies. Prefer experience and/or degree in higher education, curriculum development, and interactive distance learning.
• Excellent writing skills and attention to detail required to: (1) review documents for compliance with ACCET standards, (2) write reports, (3) compile information from applications and readiness visits, and (4) draft letters detailing Commission decisions.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills as well as reliability, diplomacy, and enthusiasm.
